If you live in Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, or Pembroke Pines and have been summoned to report to the Broward County Judicial Complex, you're in a very unique position. Unlike the rest of Florida, Broward County has a local law that gives local workers a massive financial advantage during jury service.

🚨 The Broward Employer-Pay Ordinance Exception

Broward County is one of the only counties in Florida with a local ordinance requiring employers to pay their employees during jury service. Under Broward local rules, if you are a full-time employee (working 35+ hours/week), your employer must pay your regular wages for up to 5 days of jury service. This is a massive legal benefit that does not exist in Miami-Dade or Palm Beach counties.

How much does the Broward Court pay directly?

If you are not covered by the employer-pay ordinance (e.g. you work part-time, are self-employed, or work for a company outside Broward), you receive Florida's standard court rates:

  • Days 1 to 3: $15 per day from the court.
  • Day 4 and beyond: $30 per day from the court.

Free Juror Parking

Broward County provides free parking for jurors at the Juror Parking Garage located at 540 SE 3rd Avenue in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Pull a parking card at the gate and bring it inside to the Jury Assembly Room on the third floor. The court staff will stamp and validate your ticket so you do not have to pay when leaving the garage.

Where to report

You will report to the Broward County Judicial Complex (201 SE 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301). Go to the East Wing, Room 3160. Arrive early, as clearing security and walking from the parking garage can take about 20 minutes.
