Harris County, encompassing Houston and its vast metro area, recently approved a significant increase in juror pay, making it one of the best-compensated counties in Texas. If you've been summoned to the Downtown Houston court complex, here is what you can expect.

✅ New 2026 Rates: Harris County pays $30 for the first day of service (even if not selected) and $58 per day for every day thereafter. This is well above the Texas state minimum of $6/$40.

Parking in Downtown Houston

The Harris County District Clerk provides free parking for jurors only at the following location:

  • Juror Parking Lot: 1401 Congress Street, Houston, TX 77002.
  • You must show your summons to the attendant to enter for free.
  • Do NOT park in private lots or on the street, as those costs won't be reimbursed.

Does my Houston employer have to pay me?

No. Under Texas law, employers are required to allow you time off and protect your job, but they do NOT have to pay your salary. However, many major Houston employers (Energy, Medical, Aerospace) voluntarily provide full pay.
