The Compensation Structure
Collin County pays its jurors according to the Texas state mandate:
- Day 1 (Appearance): $20 per day.
- Day 2 and Beyond: $58 per day for those seated on a trial.
Checks are usually mailed out within a few weeks. The county also offers a program where you can easily donate this daily stipend to organizations like Child Protective Services or local veterans' funds.
Job Protection in Texas
Remember, your boss cannot fire you, demote you, or threaten you for going to jury duty in Collin County. However, they are not legally obligated to pay you. If you work a corporate job in Plano or Frisco, there is a very high likelihood your company offers paid jury leave as a benefit, but you must confirm this with your HR department.
What About E-Jury?
Collin County utilizes an electronic jury portal. You can fill out your questionnaire online before you arrive, which speeds up the morning check-in process considerably. Be sure to check the online portal the night before your service to ensure your group hasn't been canceled!
